Pet Paintings
People love their pets like family members and nothing quite captures their life and character like an original pet portrait painting by Australian artist Naomi Veitch. These works of art become treasured features in the home, much like your beloved animals. Consider a commissioned pet portrait of your dog, cat, bird, horse or any other best friend of the animal variety.
The animal's personality is captured in a realistic but painterly style portrait. The custom pet portrait paintings are oil on board or stretched canvas and are 100% hand painted using traditional techniques. The paintings come ready to hang on your wall. A unique gift that will be treasured for a lifetime.
The animal portraits are hand-painted with traditional painting techniques using the finest quality materials.
How to order a pet painting.
It is very simple to commission a painting of your pet. Call or email Naomi to discuss your ideas and the size for your custom art piece. Choose if you would like a portrait of the head only or the full body.
Send your best photos of the animal. Naomi looks at one main photograph when painting but would love to have a choice of several photos in order to see the true appearance and colouring. The photos must be large, sharp and clear. The better the photo the better the end result.

Frequently asked questions.
Do you work from photos or real life?
Naomi works from photographs
Can you use pets from different photos and combine them into one painting?
Yes, this is how it is usually done. It is very hard to get the animals to co-operate and sit nicely together in real life.
Especially when you are trying to get a photo of them.
How long does a commissioned artwork take to make?
That depends greatly on the complexity, size and current work load, commissions do take highest priority. Most commissioned pet paintings are completed in 2-4 weeks.
Can I get the pet painting done quicker?
Yes, depending on Naomi's workload at the time. The fastest she can finish a pet painting would be one week,
Rush orders incur an additional fee of 25% extra
Can I purchase a gift voucher?
Yes, we do digital vouchers. Just email us the $ amount, Who it is for and who it is from. Vouchers can be used towards a pet painting or any other item on this site or our other site www.coastalartaustralia.com.

Do you frame the painting?
Framing is not included in the price however Naomi can organise framing via request.
Do I need to frame the painting?
There is no need to as all the paintings are painted on gallery wrapped stretched canvas however getting them professional framed by your local picture framer just adds that little finishing touch.
Do I get to see the commissioned painting before delivery?
Yes, Naomi will first send a rough computer-generated mockup of your artwork for approval.
Once approved Naomi will start the painting process, towards the end she will email a photo of the finished painting for approval and any minor adjustment can be made.
How is the painting sent?

How do I hang my original painting?
The best place to hang an original painting is on a wall, away from any heat source, not in direct sunlight. Away from areas of moisture or high humidity and away from ultra violet lights.
What type of paint and materials do you use?
Paintings are created in acrylic or oil on stretched canvas. The canvas is artist quality and gallery wrapped which means the staples are the back leaving the edges nice and neat and framing is not required. The acrylic paint used has a matte finish so no glare and perfect viewing from every angle. The oil paint has a semi gloss finish. High quality materials are used so the painting will be around to treasure for years.
Will you sell prints of the commissioned painting?
That depends on the subject matter. Naomi retains copyright on every artwork she produces and has the right to use your commissioned artwork to promote her business and produce reproductions in the form of prints, cards etc, of the artwork. She doesn't normally reproduce images of dogs, cats or horses.
Can I make reproductions of the painting or use the image for for personal or commercial use?
No, when you commission an original piece of art, the physical artwork is yours to keep, but the copyright in the image will not transfer to you unless a different arrangement was agreed too. Therefore, only Naomi Veitch has the right to reproduce and use the image of the finished painting. Please contact Naomi Veitch for further details. You may use the artwork for personal reasons (e.g. posting to Facebook, Instagram etc. you can tag @naomiveitchartist).
If you would like a reproduction of the painting for a family member etc. I offer prints in various sizes on archival quality paper and or cushion covers, please enquire.
